Longshim.com is a community portal for the Tangkhul Nagas. It is a community based website created based on the concept of our good old 'Longshim' where our culture, history and knowledge are shared and preserved. At Longshim.com, you can update news, post your articles, share photos and videos and participate in forum for mature discussions on various topics.

What is Longshim?
Longshim (or Morung) is the youth dormitory where in our forefathers time, the youths will come to sleep together. It has a separate dormitories for boys and girls. However Longshim is more than just a dormitory. It was back than, the educational system. It was in the Longshim that the youths will learn everything, from the art of living to the art of war, to folksongs and folkdance, stories and histories were shared and passed on from generations to generations. In other words, Longshim is a place where our culture, history and knowledge were preserved.

Why we need Longshim.com!

Longshim.com is a community based website and not a social networking site. Its objectives is to maintain a platform run by the community as a whole. Share your articles, participate in forums, share useful photos and videos. Let us preserve our history, culture and knowledge.

Yes indeed, in this age of facebook, there can not be a platform better than facebook. There are many active Tangkhul facebook groups and pages. Many useful articles are shared from time to time, many useful discussions takes place. Knowledge are shared and reaches to the people within minutes. However the problem with social networking platform is that archiving or documenting the post/articles becomes a problem. What you have shared or discussed today becomes a mammoth task to search the same after a week or so.

We feel that many important ideas and opinions shared on such social networking sites needs to be properly saved and preserved,  so that other people, or our younger generations can later on read about it and get the knowledge. It is in this context that Longshim.com is created, to preserve our knowledge, culture and history.

Use Longshim.com platform to share your articles, share your views in the forum and share useful photos and videos in the galleries. Longshim.com is not a social networking platform where it is based on your individual walls/profiles, it is a community based site and as such post/upload things which will be useful for the whole people.

That way your ideas and views can be preserved and can be discussed upon in a mature way. Our objective is to preserve our though process, our knowledge, our culture and our history.
